A Wedding at The Ashes Venue
Andrew and Angharard had one of my favourite weddings to date at The Ashes Wedding Venue. What I loved about it was how relaxed and the family feel it had. There were loads of children at this wedding and children always make weddings more fun.
I started the day with Andy and his ushers at The Barns at Alderlee Farm near Meerbrook, Staffordshire. These are beautiful barns only a few miles away from The Ashes in Endon. Andy was getting ready and handing out a few choice gifts to his best man and ushers and I was there to capture that story unfolding.
After an hour I went over to The Ashes to start photographing Angharad and he bridesmaids getting ready. There was still a little snow on the floor from my last wedding there but in general it was looking like a dry if somewhat foggy day. One of my favourite moments of Angharads bridal prep was when her Dad entered the Old Dairy and they both got quite emotional. It’s no secret that every wedding I do is one step closer to my daughter getting older and every time I see Dad giving his daughter away it makes me have a lump in my throat!
Andy and Angharad didn’t want to spend all of their recpetion having photos taken so we just did one group shot and a couple of portraits with their gorgeous son James. It was a great decision as they were able to really enjoy chatting to their guests and catching up, which gave me the perfect opportunity to capture the ambience.
They also decided not to have a first dance and instead just invited everyone onto the dance floor for a right old boogy with a fantastic band. We finished the night with a cool lit shot in the ceremony barn and I left them to enjoy the rest of their fabulous evening.
Here are a few shots of the day
