My first wedding of the year was at The Moat House Acton Trussell in January and I was expecting an icy cold winter day. But it was actually like spring! The sun shone all day, it was the brightest weather I’ve ever known for a winter wedding. Gemma and Pim booked their wedding at St James’ Church right opposite the venue. A small church but very beautiful and the surroundings are delightful. I love forward to working at St James’ church again in the near future at my next Moat House Wedding.

I’ve worked as a Moat House Wedding Photographer a number of times so I know the venue well. But this was the first time attending St James’ church. It’s so convenient for the Moat House as you can walk from the church down to the venue in minutes.

50+ Moat House Action Trussell Wedding Photographs

Gemma and Pim had a lovely ceremony and they both beamed through it the whole time whilst I captured the events occurring. After they had said their vows one of their guests played some wonderful music on a keyboard during the signing. After the ceremony Gemma and Pim greeted their guests in the sun and then took a stroll down to The Moat House where their guests showered them with confetti.

I was expecting the drinks reception to occur inside the Moat House but I was able to continue my wedding photography in the glorious grounds of the Moat House outside. We captured a few group shots as always and then had a brief stroll around the lake for some Wedding Portraits and then it was on to the speeches. In the evening I captured some wonderful Moat House Wedding Photographs of the tree lit up and then they couple and their guests danced the night away. At the end of the night the guests are able to wander up the stairs to their rooms because The Moat House provides many rooms to accommodate your entire wedding party.

THE MOAT HOUSE AT ACTON TRUSSELL, A GEM IN THE MIDDLE OF STAFFORDSHIRE

You will find the Moat House in the heat of Staffordshire in a lovely little hamlet known as Acton Trussell. Off the beaten track and in a residential area it provides a wonderful setting for a wedding and a great place to capture wedding photography. Though it isn’t an exclusive venue the wedding suite is sectioned off from the hotel and the pub meaning you still get the feel of an exclusive venue. Especially at the back where the wedding suite opens out onto the canal. On a sunny day it is a delightful place to relax with your wedding guests among the canal boats that slowly drift past.

There are three options for your wedding ceremony at the Moat House. Firstly you can get married at St James’ church across the road, which is a great place for your Moat House Wedding photography. Secondly you can choose the Colin Lewis suite, which you will find above the pub and it’s a decadent room with oak beams, full of character and charm. Lastly you can pick the Acton Suite which will accommodate a lot more guests than the Colin Lewis Suite.

WEDDING VENUE WITH A CANAL

Behind the Moat House at Acton Trussell runs a peaceful canal with an idyllic hum back bridge and in the distance rolling fields full of farm life. The bridge makes for a lovely backdrop for some Moat House Wedding Photography and it’s only a short walk from the venue to take advantage of this unique structure. The canal itself also lends itself to being used as a setting for wedding photographs and many a time I’ve captured the canal boats drifting past in the background.

Attending this venue as a Moat House Wedding Photographer is always a joy because of how many different options there are for wedding pictures. Even in poor weather The Moat House has a fantastic room known as The Library which provides an indoor option for group shots and portraits.

BEAUTIFUL LAKE SIDE SETTING

The Colin Lewis Suite at The Moat House is in fact a 14th century manor house. It has an Inglenook fireplace and oak beams giving your guests a medieval feel. It can hold up to 65 guests all seated and is a real cosy place to get married. The Acton suite is spacious and bright and overlooks the Staffordshire and Worcestershire canal. Enjoy swans and canal boats drifting by whilst you take your first steps into married life. Theres a separate entrance to the Acton Suite with it’s own private bar giving off the feel of an exclusive venue . The Acton Suite can accommodate up to 140 guests during the day and 200 in the evening.

The room next to the Acton Suite is the Library. Exclusively yours for the whole day. A great space for your family and friends to have some quiet time together. It also allows you an extra space to use for some evening entertainment. Deck out the library with a casino or photo booth and provide hours of entertainment for your guests at your wedding. The doors to the library also open out to the patio meaning on warm summer evenings the celebrations can continue outside in the country air.

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY AT THE MOAT HOUSE, ACTON TRUSSELL

With a plethora of locations both inside and out it’s not hard to see why I love being a Moat House Wedding Photographer. The contrast between the 14th century manor house and the modern setting of the Acton Suite provide a range of backgrounds to use for your wedding photographs. Not only that but having a lake and a canal at your disposal means you can incorporate wildlife and reflections in your wedding pictures.

A Moat House Wedding wouldn’t be complete without a night time photograph of the lit up tree outside the venue. Twinkling blue fairy lights along the branches provide a dream like prop to turn your wedding photography into a piece of art you can put on your wall and enjoy for a lifetime

On cold wintery days I’ve used the Library to create some group shots for your Moat House Wedding Photography that were timeless, all at the comfort of the guests who then do not need to brave the weather for those all important family pictures. The evening reception takes place in the Acton Suite and the dance floor can get nice and busy due to the ample space in the room, even when there are plenty of tables and chairs. Your guests will enjoy a sumptuous evening buffet before they bust out some moves on the dance floor and party the night away.
